President Biden - We Did Not Vote to Protect Donald Trump From Accountability. Keep Your Promise.

www.washingtonpost.com/… Again and again, the Biden Administration is proving that they are more interested in protecting the “normalcy” of complete impunity for those who have achieved power than holding accountable the worst and most criminal administration in our Nation’s history. Now they’re trying to protect Trump’s tax returns. The stated reason is something something normalcy we need to protect executive something something…  Candidate Biden promised us — he promised every one of us— that no one was above the law. He promised us he would hold criminals accountable for their crimes no matter how high an office they held. He promised us this, and it was a sacred promise made more sacred and essential by the attack on our democracy on 1/6. People risked their lives in the effort to get President Biden elected, to take back the Senate back and to hold the House.  There is no excuse for protecting Trump and his criminal accomplices. He is the head of a massive and growing growing legion of violent fascists hell-bent on overthrowing this democracy and seating a permanent, genocidal Republican majority. But it’s not just that. It’s not just the Biden Administration’s choice to completely ignore the threat these people present to our nation. These people broke the law, over and over and over again. They must be held to account. If they are not, then Biden is unworthy to be President, the Democratic party is unworthy to lead, and our very rights are a lost cause.  This is the most essential question before our country. It’s not roads and bridges. It’s not a jobs plan or even HR1. The most essential question before this country is whether or not those who attack this country — from within or without — will be held accountable. This is the fundamental purpose of our government — to provide for the common defense. Protecting the Trump crime family and their criminal associates is an act in direct violation of that purpose.  Time and again, the President and his mouthpieces have made it clear that the attack on 1/6 is the greatest attack on our nation’s democracy since the Civil War. Not even 9/11 exceeds 1/6 in infamy, according to this President. We invaded two nations, sacrificed our national honor in acts of torture and genocide abroad, in response to 9/11. If Osama Bin Laden was playing golf every day at a resort in Florida, we would have carpet bombed the place. And yet there he is, contemplating a run for the House in order to be named speaker, and organizing rallies to continue to push for a violent overthrow of our government.  All the major players continue to walk, and the most egregious part of that sin is that the Biden Administration is choosing to let them do so, choosing to allow them their impunity, choosing to make us vulnerable to another 1/6. He is putting the impunity of the Presidency above the needs of this nation. The legal impunity that the Executive branch has gathered to itself over the years is the very reason we nearly lost our Democracy in the first place. If he truly believed in the rule of law, in government by the people, then he would direct his Department of Justice to pursue the Trump administration and all of their associates with the same vigor they pursued Al Qaeda. If 1/6 was worse than 9/11, and that’s what this Administration has said, than anything less than that is a betrayal of our national security and our democracy.  History has it’s eyes on you now, Joe. And if you fail, we all pay the price.  One way you could show you’re serious about protecting this nation is not letting the brother of a traitor that continues to try and overthrow this government to take command of the US Army Pacific.  Enough.  What actions can we, as petty little Democrats that don’t enjoy the impunity of power and wealth and connection do?  We can stop sending the DNC money, and tell them why. Demand that the Department of Justice immediately launch investigations into the Trump administration for any crimes they have committed, and to abandon their policy of protecting his criminality in the name of protecting executive privilege.
