Merrick Garland has appealed a federal judge’s decision to release the actual findings of the Mueller report. This is nothing less than a massive betrayal of the American people, who have been traumatized over the course of the last 5 years. We have endured attack after attack on our democracy from monied, powerful elites. Nearly a million of our fellow citizens have died to COVID-19. We were 60 seconds away from falling to fascism on 1/6. All because Robert Mueller’s report was misrepresented by AG Barr and because we were denied the truth. Merrick Garland has continued that obfuscation, in contravention of President Biden’s promise that no man would be above the law. Don’t come for me about institutionalism in the replies. Save it. Merrick Garland has the opportunity to hold accountable the most criminal, murderous President we have ever had, and he is choosing to protect him, and to deny the American people the truth we have deserved since the Mueller investigation completed its work. Those of us who believed at first blush that Merrick Garland wouldn’t have the courage and integrity to really go after the criminal fascists that brought our country to her knees were correct all along. I regret that I had been convinced he might actually do the right thing. I was wrong. We were all wrong. The Attorney General is more interested in protecting Donald J Trump and his accomplices than he is interested in justice. He must withdraw his appeal or resign. Anything less is a betrayal of everyone who risked their lives to vote for this administration, in part under the promise that we would hold the powerful accountable, and that no one was above the law.
She’s right. She’s absolutely right. And she’s been right all along. We won’t pass voting rights. Biden won’t get rid of DeJoy. Wray won’t do shit. Yellen won’t release Trump’s returns. Garland failed Democracy.
